Parada ng Lechon
The lechon or whole roast pig is a typical part of a Filipino fiesta table. Every June, locals of Balayan and Batangas give the practice a turnaround by holding a Lechon Festival which features a parade of golden and crispy roasted pigs creatively decorated in floats and in funny costumes. The delicious parade is in commemoration of the feast of St. John the Baptist, the reason why locals enthusiastically splash water over neighbors, guests, even passersby—all in the spirit of celebration.

Taong Putik Festival
Similar to the Lechon Festival, the Taong Putik Festival also honors the feast day of St. John the Baptist, thus providing an excuse to douse people with or without their consent. Held in Aliaga, Nueva Ecija, hundreds of the saint’s devotees transform themselves into mud people or literally taong putik.

Pinyahan Festival
Colorful street presentations in honor of the pineapple, Daet’s favorite fruit, are held through the annual Camarines Norte Pinyahan Festival. It showcases the favored fruit through colorful street presentations along with art exhibits, sports competition, and cultural dances. It is also a festival held in honor of the Philippine national hero, Jose Rizal.

Pista ng Pintados-Kasadyaan
The month-long Pintados-Kasadyaan Festival of Leyte includes the Leyte Kasadyaan Festival of Festivals, the Pintados Festival Ritual Dance Presentation, and the “Pagrayhak” Grand Parade—all of which are in honor of the feast day of Senor Santo Nino. It displays the rich cultural heritage in Leyte and Samar through native music and dances as well as the exposition of the Visayas’ intricate, unique, and highly stylized body painting and tattooing talent.
